Francisco Javier Ampudia-Blasco, MD
Dr. Francisco Javier Ampudia-Blasco is the President of the Sociedad Española de Diabetes (SED), Section Chief of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Department at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia and a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Valencia. He also serves as a researcher at the CIBERDEM (Spanish Biomedical Research Centre in Diabetes and Associated Metabolic Diseases).
Dr. Ampudia-Blasco earned his medical degree from the University of Valencia and completed his PhD at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He specialized in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona.
His primary research interests include diabetes management, insulin therapy, and continuous glucose monitoring systems. He has authored numerous scientific publications and has been involved in various national and international research projects. In April 2024, he was appointed President of the Spanish Diabetes Society (SED).

John Buse, MD, PhD
John Buse, MD, PhD
John Buse, MD, PhD is the Verne S. Caviness Distinguished Professor and Director of the Diabetes Center at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He received his MD and PhD from Duke University before training in internal medicine and endocrinology at the University of Chicago. Dr. Buse completed service as President for Medicine & Science at the American Diabetes Association in 2008. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the 2010 Castle Connolly National Physician of the Year Award, the 2019 American Diabetes Association (ADA) Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Diabetes Research Award and the 2024 ADA Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award. He has authored more than 500 publications. Dr Buse currently works with research teams in multicenter studies of diabetes and obesity treatment, in translating basic science innovation to clinical application, and in exploring the safety and efficacy of treatments using real world evidence.

Mohamad Hassanein, Professor
Mohamad Hassanein, Professor
Professor of Medicine, Mohamed Bin-Rashid University, UAE, as well as senior consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Dubai Hospital, Dubai, UAE since 2014. He also holds academic post as H Professor of Medicine, Gulf Medical University, UAE and past associate Director for Postgraduate Diabetes Education, Cardiff University, UK since 2007. He was appointed to the post of Consultant in the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at BCUHB, UK, in 2002. Dr Hassanein graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria, Egypt.
His main research interest is in the field of diabetes and Ramadan. He co-authored recommendations papers on this subject for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in 2005 and 2010, and for the British Medical Journal in 2010, Diabetes Canada in 2017 as well as the IDF-DAR practical guidelines, 2016 and 2021. Dr Hassanein has participated as the first author and/or a co-author in numerous studies and guidelines including studies on prevalence of diabetes, obesity, hypertension and is the first author for the Emirates Cardiometabolic guidelines. He has published over 110 papers. He’s also the associate editor of Dubai Diabetes and Endocrinology Journal.

Eugene Sobngwi, MD, PhD, FAAS
Eugene Sobngwi, MD, PhD, FAAS
Professor Eugene SOBNGWI MD, PhD, FAAS is Professor of Medicine and Chair of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University of Yaoundé 1, and Consultant Endocrinologist at the Yaoundé Central Hospital. He is head of the Laboratory of Molecular Medicine and Metabolism at the Biotechnology Centre of the University of Yaoundé 1 and Senior Researcher and co-founder of RSD Institute for health research and interventions. Professor Sobngwi served as Vice-president Global of the International Diabetes Federation 2017-2019 and is currently Director of Health Care Organization and Health Technology at the Cameroon Ministry of Public Health since October 2021.

He is a Fellow of the Cameroon Academy of Sciences, and a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences. He has served in many national and international expert committees such as the American Diabetes Association International Committee for the Diagnosis of Diabetes (2008), the IDF Type 2 guidelines revision committee and several WHO expert committees including the expert committee for diagnosis and classification of diabetes, the committee on the diagnosis of diabetes in pregnancy, and the consultation for NCD comorbidities in HIV, and is the Vice-President of Cameroon Scientific Council for Public Health Emergencies since COVID19 outbreak.

He is the author of over 220 peer-reviewed publications and 10 book chapters with an H-index of 66.
